EVA GUNTHER FOUNDATION “BROWN BAG” PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES.

I. 9/23/2010 – Program Exchange. Program Managers and Staff, come share information about your programs with program staff at other organizations to expand opportunities for your participants! Find out about other programs your participants can go to, such as arts programs, social service agencies, and advocacy organizations.
Moderator: Laura Rosbrow, Collaboration Coordinator, Eva Gunther Foundation. Laura has worked with the Eva foundatin for the past 15 months; she has an MSW and has a of community organizing experience.
 
II. 10/7/2010 -  Budgeting and Management Accounting. A brief overview of different approaches to budgeting, and using basic management accounting techniques to help determine what things actually cost.
Moderator: Mark Gunther, Managing Director, Eva Gunther Foundation. Mark has worked in small business and non-profits for the past 35 years as a financial and operations manager, and as Treasurer or Board Chair of several nonprofits. Mark’s focus has been on expressing mission and values through a company’s organization, and enabling leaders to understand what ‘the numbers’ say about an organization. Mark founded the Eva Foundation with his wife Anne Krantz in 1999. He is currently a partner at Buddy Rhodes Concrete Products, the Board Chair of Equal Access International and active in the leadership of Congregation Beth Sholom in San Francisco. He is an accomplished cyclist and has danced at Rhythm and Motion for 26 years.
  
III. 11/4/2010 - Looking for Outcomes:  Surveys and Beyond. This session will examine strategies nonprofits can use to identify outcomes using a logic model, create surveys that measure these outcomes in their service populations, and look beyond surveys to find evidence of positive change.
Moderator: Melanie Moore Kubo, Ph.D.  Dr. Kubo specializes in theory of change and evaluation design for non-profit organizations, intermediary organizations, foundations and public agencies. In 2005, Dr. Moore Kubo founded See Change, Inc., an evaluation and strategic consulting firm with the goal of improving critical thinking in organizations working to make social change.  See Change is currently working on a range of evaluation projects, ranging from assessments of foundation- and government-led community youth development initiatives, to initiatives designed to strengthen the social justice movement infrastructure in the United States. 
IV. 11/12/2010- “Brand in a Non-Profit World.” Using real life examples from companies large and small, the session explores the ideas behind a clear brand, understanding the differences between mission and branding, and building the connection betwween your organization and your customers. We’ll then discuss how choices of design elements reflect and reinforce an organization’s brand message.
Moderator: Mark Rovai, Director of Planning, DDB Worldwide Communications. Mark has broad experience in marketing and brand development, working with organizations large and small in traditional and new media formats.
